Manzanita is a picture perfect Oregon Coast location for visitors looking to truly ‘getaway’.
This cozy village nestles up to seven miles of coastline. The shiny white sandy beaches in this area pave the way for beach-combing and horseback riding.
Manzanita beach is one of Oregon Coast’s most popular kite flying areas. Summer winds (18-25 m.p.h.) also make this stretch of coastline a premier destination for windsurfers.
An abundance of outdoor activity
Manzanita is surrounded on the north and south by two magnificent state parks.
Situated on the south end, Nehalem Bay State Park offers camping, yurting, a horse camp, and an airstrip for fly-in camping. Offshore activities include miles of bicycle, horseback and hiking trails. Popular onshore activities are kayaking, crabbing, fishing and spectacular sunset viewing by campfire.
Oswald State Park, to the north, provides coastal access trails that meander through mature forests. The trails lead to Short Sands Beach. The beach is a secluded section of coastline popular with surfers and boogie boarders.
Lodging and other amenities
Despite the size of the city, and the lack of box stores and busy streets, Manzanita has many lodging options and restaurants. A large variety of vacation rentals can be contacted, perfect for a large family vacation. And, the area is host to several comfy and cozy bed & breakfasts.
