Several animals washed up along the Long Beach Peninsula after high winds and heavy surf slammed the Oregon and Washington coastlines this past week.
Stories like this always remind of the exploding whale that washed up in Florence in 1970. Back then beaches were classified as a state highway so it was up to the Oregon Highway Division(now known as ODOT) to dispose of the carcass. They thought that burying the animal wouldn’t work very well so they decided to use dynamite instead. You can see the video on youtube.
