Cannon Beach is a classic Oregon Coast destination with awe-inspiring romantic scenery, a thriving art scene, and one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants.
Its most recognizable natural landmark is Haystack Rock. This basalt monolith, often encircled with sea birds, rises over 235 feet above the ocean. The coastline here is famous for its relaxing atmosphere. It’s a backdrop for memorable family photos, romantic strolls and weddings.
It doesn’t take long to leisurely walk from one end of town to another. But, you can easily spend more than one day visiting the art galleries and locally owned shops that make up this creative and artistic community.
The lodging in Cannon Beach is unlike most Oregon Coast cities. The most popular hotels, motels and Inns reside directly on the beach, ocean level. You can literally step off your back patio and place your feet in the sand. While staying close to home base, the kids can build sand castles or play fetch with the family pet.
Within walking distance of Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park is a year-round outdoor recreation area. Pack a picnic basket, and your hiking boots, for outstanding coastline views and miles of trails. If you’ve got a pair of binoculars, bring em’, the park is home to a wide variety of wildlife and birds. During the winter and spring months you can spot migrating gray whales.
